Educational
Goals/Objectives
ESE
Education Program Vision
=====================================
The
primary goal is to make a measurable
and documented difference in
the numbers of underrepresented
minorities at Elizabeth City
State University and other HBCU/MI’s who pursue
careers in geoscience related fields
and the technical fields which
support the geosciences. The proposal
contains a strong student, faculty,
curriculum enhancement, and evaluation
component.
The
curriculum enhancement objectives
involve revising two existing
UNH courses designed to enhance
the research capabilities of
faculty research agenda and
that of their students. The
first course will orient the
students in the latest information
about earth systems science
and remote sensing. The second
course will involve the students
in active research projects
integrating earth systems science
and remote sensing. Workshops
are planned during which faculty
will be guided in the delivery
of both courses and in constructing
include examples and exercises
from their local ecosystems
for use in the courses. The
student involvement objectives
are designed to encourage
underrepresented minority students
in STEM to consider academic
and/or research careers in
geosciences, and/or joining
the workforce of expanding
Earth science applications.
The Remote Sensing Explorers
Program will provide financial
support and research training
activities. |
