CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
ADMI 2004
"Asserting our Role in Information Security"

The Symposium on Computing at Minority Institutions
May 21-23,2004 Orlando, Florida

PURPOSE
Dissemination and discussion of information concerning activities pertaining to institutions that serve minority populations and initiatives designed to increase the numbers of minority computer scientists and computer engineers. Faculty papers are solicited that emphasize points unique to minority institutions. Research papers and posters authored by students are also sought.

TOPICS
A special emphasis is placed on original research papers and posters. An area of interest for this Symposium is Information Security (IS). Submissions concerning (but not limited to) the following information security topics are invited:

a) Educational program components:

  • Developing curricula and models of education especially relevant to minority populations
  • Attracting and/or retaining students
  • Involving students in research

b) Grants:

  • Expanding faculty and student research
  • Partnerships vvith major research institutions
  • Research & instruction infrastructure

c) Contracts:

  • Partnerships with contractors and agencies
  • Collaboration among ADMI institutions

AUTHOR REGISTRATION
All authors must register for the Symposium and pay all registration fees.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS AND POSTERS
To submit a paper (faculty and students), a one-page electronic version of the extended abstract, in Microsoft Word"" that includes a title, author's name and affiliation, author's e-mail address, whether the paper is intended for a faculty or student session, and keywords describing the exact topic must be sent to Dr. Elva Jones at:

admi@wssu.edu

The extended (1 page) abstract must be received by January 30th, 2004. Authors will be notified of the review committee decision by February 27th and an electronic copy of the paper shall be expected by March 26th.

STUDENT PAPERS
Topics may include any area of computer science or computer engineering. Authors of student papers must be students who have been enrolled at minority institutions. Faculty advisors and advisor email addresses must be indicated on the student paper abstracts.

STUDENT POSTERS
One-half page abstracts for posters should contain the above information and be submitted to the same e-mail address by March 26th. Authors will be notified by April 20th.

SUBMISSION OF ACCEPTED PAPERS
Accepted papers, including abstract, must rigorously adhere to the ADMI format for publication. Requests for the format should be forwarded to: Robert.willis@hamptonu.edu

TRAVEL SUPPORT
Funding for assistance with travel expenses for participants may be available. Priority shall be given to student authors who do not have other sources of travel funding. A request for support must accompany the abstract.
