Dr. Shobha Sriharan |
Dr.
Shobha Sriharan is as an Associate
Professor of Environmental Science
at Virginia State University's
(VSU) Department of Agriculture
and Human Ecology. Dr. Sriharan
is responsible for the introduction
of new academic programs: Environmental
science (ES) and Geographic Information
System (GIS). These programs were
developed at VSU as a result of
funding from the USDA Capacity
Building Teaching Program to VSU.
As the project director of the
USDA Capacity Building Projects,
she has demonstrated leadership
in initiating instruction of courses
on environmental science and GIS
during the academic year for VSU's
undergraduates, and pre-college
awareness of GIS among the high
school students and teachers through
intensive summer programs. Dr.
Sriharan has successfully enforced
the concept of team teaching by
the faculty members at partner
institutions which include Elizabeth
City State University, Delaware
State University, and Southern
University. She is an integral
part of the success of VSU's NIH-BRIDGES
to Baccalaureate Program and NIH-Extramural
Associates Research Development
