On February 9, 2009, the National Science Foundation (NSF) conducted its year four site visit for the Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets (CReSIS). CReSIS was also evaluated for its 6-10 continuation funding. Twenty three students and faculty from ECSU, MVSU, WSSU, NSU, and Spelman College represented the Association of Computer and Information Science/Engineering Departments at Minority Institutions (ADMI) organization.
Dr. Linda Hayden, Director of the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research (CERSER) presented during the site visit at The University of Kansas. Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) is a part of a team of researchers from six universities conducting research to achieve a better understanding of the mass balance of the polar ice sheets and its contribution to global climate change. Students and faculty also took part in a research poster session. Images from the poster session can be found here.
Also attending were:
- Dr. Darnell Johnson,
Chair of the ECSU Math and Computer Science Department
- Dr. Andrea Lawrence, Spelman University (ADMI)
- Dr. Constance Bland, Mississippi Valley State University (ADMI)
- Mr. Anthony Adade, ECSU Chief Information Officer
