CReSIS is committed to recruiting, retaining and educating students within a diverse, multidisciplinary research team that focuses on topics related to global climate change and remote sensing. Equally important is our goal to reach out to K-12 students, their teachers and the general public. We want to give them resources to learn more about the polar regions and understand how they are studied, so all members of society can better comprehend why changes in polar regions could impact everyone in the world.

This summer program of selected students from grades 6 – 8 will work with a team mentor on projects which involve learning the fundamentals of earth science. Participants will also:

  • Learn about Remote Sensing and Satellite Imagery
  • Take scientific measurements in the fields of atmosphere and hydrology
  • Learn about Polar Regions
  • Publishing their research projects
  • Collaborating with scientists and faculty
  • Use HTML and JavaScript to document their experience on the WWW

Students must provide their own transportation to and from the ECSU site each day. Participants completing the program will receive a certificate and a stipend of $100.00 during the closing program.

3Send the completed application and stipend forms along with a letter of recommendation from your math or science teacher and a copy of your transcript or most recent report card to:
