On January 22, 2008, representatives from Elizabeth City State University met at Indiana University with their partners in the Polar Grid Project for a strategy session with regards to the upcoming research expedition to the Greenland ice sheets. Polar Grid is an NSF MRI funded partnership of Indiana University and Elizabeth City State University to acquire and deploy the computing infrastructure needed to investigate the urgent problems in glacial melting. Representatives from Elizabeth City included Dr. Linda Hayden, Director of the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research (CERSER), Dr. Minjun Wang, Dr. Eric Akers, and Mr. Je'aime Powell. Personnel attending the session were also given an introduction to the current computing capabilities and future plans for growth. |
